Exhibition shines a light on the importance of Roughfields

A new community exhibition is set to shine a spotlight on the importance of Roughfields in Hadfield.
Called Faces of Roughfields, the photography exhibition by, of and for local people, will run from 30th April until 2nd May at Wall in the Barn at the Craft Barn, 103a Station Road, Hadfield.
The fabulous exhibition will showcase 60 portraits which capture the people, animals and flowers that use and rely on the land, located on the outskirts of Hadfield and Padfield, every day. Halina Billingham, who's spearheading the cause and the exhibition said: "Roughfields is a well used green space that many people treasure as a source of wellbeing, exercise and fresh air. It's a lovely spot and we are keen to show the council how important it is to local folk.
"Our protest is a fight to stop the creeping urbanisation of our rural communities.
"We care about the badger who walks on Roughfields every night, and the beautiful owl who regularly hunts here. They all play an important part in the ecosystem and in the life of this lovely community. ‚
"This exhibition has taken hundreds of volunteer hours to create and bring together. Our generous community raised funds to help us buy frames, they have also donated various items for the show and helped to deliver leaflets around the area.
"We welcome anyone who's interested to come and check out the beautiful photography in the community exhibition."
