Glossop Creates, in partnership with Dark Peak Press and the town's wider creative and independent business community, has commissioned and spearheaded the launch of Glossop's very first zine.
Named KIN.DER, the zine has been supported with funds received by Arts Council England and High Peak Borough Council.
Including contributions from business owners, local groups and creatives, KIN.DER zine is available from today (Friday 1st October) and can be downloaded or picked up in hard-copy format from a range of the town's venues and shops including Harvey Leonard's Wine & Ale Tasters, The Artful Pigeon Gallery, George Street Community Bookshop, Pepino Deli, Partington Players Theatre and Glossop Wholefoods.
Editor Richard Knox, who also runs Dark Peak Press, said: "We are extremely happy to announce the birth of the KIN.DER zine - a free publication for the Glossopdale area that focuses on the alternative side of our community and surroundings.
"There is a wealth of creativity, skill and knowledge in this town and we wanted to develop a platform to showcase it and to help it reach more people and to inspire folk into action.
"The first edition - Issue Zero - is essentially a pilot edition where we are testing out ideas, formats, formulas and, more generally, getting a taste of whether there is an appetite for this kind of publication in the area. We certainly think and hope so!
"Inside you will find a broad range of content, presented in a simple, old-school, punk rock, xerox fashion where culture, artwork, poetry, recipes, essays, opinions and ideas all collide in a bright splurge of colour and creativity. We also feature environmental issues, how-to guides, interviews and more."
There are exciting plans for KIN.DER in the pipeline, and the town's residents can follow the activity by following @kin.der.co on Instagram.
KIN.DER would love to feature a wide range of voices from the town in future editions, so If you are interested in discussing ideas or submitting work for consideration , please email darkpeakpress@gmail.com or hello@glossopcreates.com
