Introducing WAN.DER - by KIN.DER & Glossop Creates

January 26, 2023

Combining creativity with conversation and curiosity

In Glossop, we are lucky to live in a beautiful place surrounded by countryside; rolling hills, windswept moorland, twisted paths, shady woods and babbling streams. True creativity can be nurtured by mindfulness and connection with nature.

If you are looking for ways to reconnect, slow down and get out and about, while making new friends, discussing ideas and developing partnerships, WAN.DER could be for you!

WAN.DER is a new programme of local walks that are launching in Glossop, with the first walk taking place on 3rd April at 10am.

The walks will be headed up by local artists and creatives, who will invite you to see the world through their eyes and explore, learn and connect with your surroundings. The walks will combine history, curiosity and creativity and aim to be truly unique experiences.

Our first WAN.DER - starting at the KIN.DER shop on Arundel Street - will be led by Tim Campbell-Green - author of the blog, Glossop Curiosities (Twitter @RobertHamnet, taking the name from Glossop's best known historian, with a blue plaque dedicated to him on the side of Harvey Leonard's).

Tim's historical curated walk will take in some interesting - and normally overlooked - aspects of the town including Mediaeval settlements, trackways, Tudor saints, Victorian railways and accidents, Roman roads, mudlarking and pottery. The walk will finish up in the Oakwood Pub for a much-needed bevvy!

Claire Tymon, founder of Glossop Creates said: ‚"We believe that our WAN.DER walks will be good for mind, body and soul, and provide participants with a way to connect and learn about our locality through the eyes of artists and creatives. They will also provide a way for us to learn from each other and - hopefully - appreciate and care for our local environment all the more."

The first route, led by Tim, will be around three miles long and has no steep hills or wild moors to navigate, making it accessible for a number of different physical abilities.

You can book now at https://kin-der.co/. Tickets are limited so book early to avoid missing out!   Keep an eye out for the rest of this year's WAN.DER programme, with walks throughout the spring and summer, with themes ranging from Wittgenstein in Glossop, foraging and psychogeography.
