Love a spot of raving? DANCE LOCAL is coming to Glossop...

January 26, 2023

Music lovers and ravers rejoice - suburban club night from Manchester, DANCE - LOCAL, is bringing its special brand of partying to Glossop on 9th April.   Located at the Crystal Ballroom, dance lovers can expect the coolest sounds of the City from 9pm 'til late.

Over the past six years, The Playhouse Project has been hosting top quality daytime raves for parents who miss their clubbing days. Organised by a crew of seasoned clubbers and well known DJs from the Manchester scene that are now parents, the concept was originally launched by local Glossop mum Carlie Ashcroft, as part of Bankswood Festival in 2016 and various subsequent events held at Glossop Masonic Hall. The concept became of interest to DJs and club promoters in the city and quickly became part of Manchester's upcoming family events scene.

Carlie says: "Since launching, we have grown significantly, attracting crowds of up 600 people to our events - and we are so excited to bring the club night to my home town of Glossop this spring

"Our highlights include; regular collaborations with Escape to Freight Island, the Refuge, Whitworth Art Gallery, Victoria Baths, Parentfolk, Hatch, BEYOND MCR, The Deaf Institute and the Golden Lion, Todmorden. In Summer 2021 we produced two events for the Manchester International Festival.

"We have worked with a range of high profile DJs such as; Resident MC Kwasi (Mr Scruff, AIM). Disco Mums (Homoelectric, Huey Morgan) Jason Boardman (Aficionados Yellow). VEBA (Rae & Christian, Groove Armada, HOMOBLOC ).Dave Beer (founder of Back to Basics). DJ Lil' Fee (The Whip, Flex). Peter Parker (Fingerthing). Jamie Groovement. Dub Smugglers. Mikey D.O.N. 2 Kool Tony (Heavy Crates) and Metrodome.

"I have lived in Glossop for 13 years, and after becoming fed up with travelling to Manchester for a night out with the added cost of taxis home, I decided to set up DANCE LOCAL to cater for other like-minded music fans.

"The club night at the Crystal Ballroom should be epic. We are bringing the party to your doorstep giving locals the chance to go clubbing without the hassle of travelling to the city centre.

"The night will feature DANCE - LOCAL with DJ Lil' Fee & Julie Wills, hosted by MC Kwasi DJ Lil' Fee (The Whip, Flex Moovin Festival) - who has enjoyed an international music career as the drummer in slick, dance-rock outfit, The Whip. Lil' Fee's DJ sets are finely crafted and full of sonic energy for your dancefloor stomp. Fee certainly knows how to bring the party, Expect soulful House and Disco!

"Disco Mums is an all female Manchester based DJ collective of seasoned clubbers who are now proud parents. Courtesy of the babysitting skills of a team of generously paid helpers, we are still out and still playing records!

"Greatly influenced by the scene in Manchester over the past 20 years, our roots are in nights like Electric Chair, Aficionado, Friends & Family, Homoelectric and Bugged Out. We've been partying and collecting music for more than 15 years, and in the past few years we‚Äôve been having the time of our lives flexing our vinyl record collections as Disco Mums. Some of our highlights include playing at Electric Elephant in Croatia, Back to Basics in Leeds and Manchester International Festival. We have also been lucky enough to play the legendary Red Laser Disco parties as residents and That Amazing Thing.

"Glossop can expect a unique and upbeat vibe of House, Disco, Boogie, Reggae and Italo music. No barriers, no restrictions - just proper good times."
