Glossop Arts Project celebrates new funding

April 11, 2024

Glossop Arts Project is toasting the future after being awarded funding for the next three years from the National Lottery Community Fund, and a grant from a charitable trust to support its groups for young people.

Clare Isherwood from the project tells us more: “The lottery funding enables us to continue the work we do and expand on this to meet the needs within our community of Glossopdale, and we thank the Big Lottery supporters for making this possible. We will continue with our three weekly adult Arts for Wellbeing sessions, including our two Arts and MiNDs Neurodivergent groups. Our Arts from Home provision continues to be popular for those who presently cannot make a face to face session.

“Additionally, our young people’s groups, known as ‘Mind the GAP’, have also been awarded a grant from The Vernon Robert Bowmer Charitable Trust.  This trust aims to improve the lives of people in Derbyshire, and we are delighted to receive it, in order to continue to support young people in Glossop with their mental health through arts for wellbeing.

“We currently run two sessions a week for secondary-aged young people up to 18 yrs - one after school on a Wednesday and one supporting those not in full time education on a Friday afternoon.  The funding also includes money to enable us to explore and develop a service for primary school children, and we hope to launch a pilot of this in the near future.”
