2020 has been quite the year, and while many of us were furloughed or working from the comfort of our homes, much of the UK's hospitality industry has been working even harder than usual to pivot their offering to provide takeout or delivery services.
Despite being hit hard by the pandemic, the amount of creativity and resilience shown by the industry has been truly inspiring. With that in mind, there has never been a more crucial time to support local independent cafes, restaurants and bars.
The good news is that Glossop's community of vibrant, incredible indie eateries and food and drink businesses have pulled out all the stops to create some truly amazing offerings for December and beyond.

It's not surprising that the average price spent on a bottle of take-home wine in 2020 has shot up, as consumers have gone for premium or more expensive bottles to give themselves a bit of a treat and make dining at home extra special.
With the on-trade still closed for now in tier 3, Harvey Leonard's is an absolute Godsend for incredible wines and beers, hand-picked by a team of WSET-trained specialists who are always on hand to help you select the perfect bottle.
Supporting independent breweries and wineries, Harvey Leonard's is the place to grab your festive beers and wines - and, what's more, you can get them gift-wrapped if you fancy giving the fam a few boozy presents on Christmas morning. Let's face it, after this year they will probably be well received!

If you've not tried the delights of Hyssop yet, now is the time to sample their modern European and British cuisine, albeit it in the comfort of your own dining room!
The menu regularly changes to keep things fresh, and during the 2020 lockdowns, the restaurant has pivoted beautifully to provide the gastro-loving community of Glossop with excellent food.
Currently, Hyssop is making a series of Cook at Home Meal Kits, including Pork Belly Gyros, Confit Chicken Bao Buns, Braised Beef Rib and Sticky Toffee Pudding. The kits contain all the ingredients you need to cook and assemble at home, to make your Friday night super special.

The Oakwood is another Glossop stalwart that has managed to take their offer to the people in 2020.
The cosy-yet-achingly-cool pub is currently offering delivery and collection services on a wide range of delectable dishes including stone-baked Italian style pizzas, mighty burgers, posh kebabs, small plates, desserts and Sunday Roasts - including their awesome Vegan Roast, much loved by Glossop's plant-based community.
For meat eaters, check out the Christmas Pizza, which includes turkey, pigs in blankets, rosemary, Brie, stuffing and cranberry sauce!
Another restaurant that keeps its menu fresh, Cask and Kitchen has developed what can only be called a cult following over the last couple of years due to its endless creativity and quirky fusion cuisine.
On the menu at the moment are some incredibly creative dishes, including Taj Mahal Loaded Fries, a three Hot Dog marvel and a Cassoulet Burger Box - a veritable smorgasbord of delicious delights to tempt the tastebuds!
Recently, the eatery has sparked the imagination of Glossop's food lovers by offering mystery boxes full of favourites - dare you try them out? We do!
The popular cosy pub selling home made food has recently launched a new online ordering system for its amazing menu, so sit back, order your favourites and either collect from Bernard Street or have them delivered directly to your door.
