Nature-based printmaking session at George Street Community Bookshop!
This activity is FREE but please book a place to secure your spot.
--
Join artist/writer Michelle Collier for a nature-inspired printmaking session, as part of MYCOMYTHOPOEIA – an artist residency with George Street Community Bookshop.
Come along to try your hand at cyanotype printing – a special kind of camera-less photography and printmaking all in one. Also known as photograms or sun prints, cyanotypes use specially coated paper and the magic of the sun’s rays to create a unique print.
This technique has been around for 180 years and was an early form of science illustration used by botanists like Anna Atkins to capture and document fascinating natural specimens. What pictures will you create?!

WORKSHOP MATERIALS
All materials will be provided – but you’re welcome to bring along any nature-based materials you might have found on your own explorations of Glossop – such as dried leaves, flowers, feathers or mushrooms!

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
This event is part of MYCOMYTHOPOEIA – an artist residency at George Street Community Bookshop, exploring the bookshop through the lens of mycorrhizal networks.
Across October and November, Michelle will be inviting the local community to reimagine the bookshop through the lens of mushrooms and mycelium – where stories, ideas and knowledge are what nourishes the bookshop network.
And where the ‘fruiting bodies’ are our collective creative outputs. To find out more, visit Michelle’s website: https://www.mickeypip.com/post/mycomythopoiea-an-artist-residency
ABOUT THE BOOKSHOP
Based in George Street, Glossop, we are an independent, second-hand bookshop, owned and run by the community, showcasing a huge range of genre fiction, collectibles, local interest books and children’s literature.
